Why Siloso Beach

Why end a Sentosa day at Siloso Beach

A story told on water

Wings of Time follows Shahbaz, a mythical bird, and his friends Rachel and Felix as they travel through time and across continents. The settings are projected onto a giant water screen, with dancing fountains, lasers and a fireworks finale.

An island off the south coast

Sentosa lies off the southern coast of Singapore's main island, and Siloso Beach is on the west of its southern coast. The organiser describes the show as set against the open sea.

Made for the whole family

The organiser describes Wings of Time as family-friendly and designed to delight guests of all ages. Guests aged 4 and over need a ticket.

On the water screen

Five settings, one bird

The organiser names five places that Shahbaz and his friends visit. Here is each one as a short sleeve note, with what the real place was.

  1. Across Asia

    The Silk Road

A network of Asian trade routes, active from the second century BCE until the mid-15th century. It took its name from the trade in silk, and tea, dyes, perfumes and porcelain also travelled west.

  2. Mesoamerica

    The Mayan Pyramids

The Maya lived across southeastern Mexico and northern Central America, and the civilization is known for its ancient temples. The 260-day tzolkʼin calendar is still used in some Maya communities.

  3. Britain, from about 1760

    The Industrial Revolution

It began in Great Britain around 1760 and had spread to continental Europe and the United States by about 1840. The textile industry was the first to use modern production methods.

  4. Beneath the surface

    Underwater worlds

The organiser lists underwater worlds among the settings. Fountains rise in front of the projection, and the first photograph in the gallery shows a coral scene on the screen.

  5. Africa

    The African savanna

A savanna is a mixed woodland and grassland ecosystem where the trees are spaced widely enough that the canopy does not close. Its animals generally include the giraffe, elephant, buffalo and zebra.

These settings come from the organiser's own description of the story. The order on the night may differ, and the show closes with fireworks.

Getting there

Three ways to reach the beach

These are the routes the organiser gives for the show, with what the island's own transport adds. Check current directions before you travel.

  1. Sentosa Express to Beach Station

The Sentosa Express is a monorail. Beach Station is its southern terminus, between Siloso and Palawan beaches, and the organiser's directions say to alight there and walk to the show.

  2. Cable car to Siloso Beach

The Singapore Cable Car is a gondola lift that provides an aerial link from Mount Faber to Sentosa island. The Sky Pass card below covers the ride.

  3. By car to the Beach Station car park

The organiser says to park at the Beach Station car park, then walk for about five minutes to the show.
